KARL NEEDS BIBS

We're not implying that Karl is a sloppy eater . . .

BIBS actually stands for "Built In Breathing System." And to put it on a level that everyone can understand, these are the oxygen-delivery masks that we need to use in our Chamber when a treatment is being done. Rather than flood the entire chamber with oxygen, oxygen is delivered directly to a diver being treated through the mask, which fits over the nose and mouth. This not only allows for very efficient oxygen delivery, but lessens the overall dangers that flooding the entire chamber with oxygen could produce. Here's what the new mask looks like:

The current masks that are being used are at the end of their life cycle. And, like with the compressor last year, this is an expense that's not contained within the normal operating budget of our Chamber. We need 10 of these masks at a cost of $1,525 each so we're talking a grand total of $15,250. And remember, this is in addition to our normal yearly operating expenses (close to $200,000).

So here's what we're hoping for:

Can we find 10 of you to sponsor/buy a mask? (And you can certainly buy more than one if you like.) We hope to be able to fund all 10 masks this way and what we will do is put a commemorative sign on our Chamber that lists each person who paid for a mask. You can do it in your own name or in memory of someone who's no longer with us.

Here's how you can sponsor/buy a mask:

1. Call us at 310/652-4990 and we'll do it over the phone.
2. E-mail us at chamberday@aol.com.
3. Go to the secure website ( https://www.alumniconnections.com/olc/pub/SCA/events/event_order.cgi?tmpl=events&event=2360392 ), go to Chamber Challenge, find "Enter your own Chamber Challenge Amount here ----->" and type in $1,525 or a multiple of that. Then under "Other donation assignment" write in "BIBS mask." If you're doing this in someone's memory, enter their name on that line as well.

We'll keep you posted on how we're doing. But our hope is - like with the compressor last year (which just recently got delivered BTW) - to fully fund the 10 BIBS masks before May 1.

So how about it? Who's willing to buy Karl some BIBS????
