What's the worst that can happen?

People do tend to live after encountering Longimanus while diving- they put the Red Sea's Elphinstone on the map so to speak.

Wouldn't want to be bobbing about in the ocean waiting a long time for a pick up though.... and it's a good idea to wear boots- just in case they come for you while you're on the ladder :)

Wasn't it in the Bahamas that a research diver got mauled and killed by two OWT a few years back? No thanks. IMO the OWT is the most dangerous animal on the planet.

Time and place- same goes for all large predators.

Longimanus definitely has a reputation as a bold and potentially deadly shark- however hundreds/thousands? of encounters happen every year without incident.

There be plenty of more dangerous animals than sharks.

I've been around Tiger sharks, and they weren't at all aggressive (intimidating yes). And I've not seen any aggression from Bull sharks either.

But, OWT's are pretty aggressive, and that aggression ramps up substantially when there's more than one. I believe Jacques Cousteau refused to dive with them as well. I'll hang with Cousteau on this one.

Yeah, they also killed several people in Sharm (bikinifish) and IIRC it was at Elphinstone an oceanic white tip killed a french woman 3-4 years ago?
Id definetly not linger on the surface with those things around..
