I saw the following by the owner of the board : "I am figuring on a group covering mainly Michigan, Illinois, and Wisconsin."
Hey, Minnesotans dive Lake Superior, too! Has there been any previous contact from Minnesota? If OK with you, could you include Minnesota?
See one of our active boards at www.mnscuba.com.
I've been to Isle Royale (yep, it's Michigan), the Madeira, etc. Interested in Lake Erie since originally from Cleveland.

Dan L

Feel free to participate in discussions. I didn't get any PM's from Minnesota divers initially, but that is the way things go.

I, personally, don't wish to EXCLUDE anybody as long as the main topic is Great Lakes diving (or get togethers for divers). I am sure that the rest of this friendly group feels the same way.

So, welcome aboard!

Minnesota Divers are Great Lakes divers, and are certainly welcome in our new part of the Scubaboard! I would like to do a little diving in Lake Superior, but have not had the opportunity yet.

I have not had a chance to dive Lake S. But I did swim in it, one summer. Man, that lake is freezing!

DanL:
If you haven't done Lake Superior, consider diving a charter to dive Isle Royale wrecks. Really a great four day dive trip.
Here's a link to one of the charters:

I worked in Thunder Bay, ON this past year and enjoyed diving the Madeira and other sites on the Minnesota North Shore*. Nice water clarity you folks have down there, and friendly (and, of course, Superior :) ) divers! The Minnesota Historical Society maintains a very informative site on Minnesota wrecks:
http://www.mnhs.org/places/nationalregister/shipwrecks/

*and it was actually a bit warmer there than at the Howard on our side <gasp!> (Erm, not much - maybe 42F instead of 39F)

The only diving that I have done in Lake Superior was in Munising. As a matter of fact the Smith Moore was my first wreck dive.

But that is difficult to consider Lake Superior diving. The water in that area is pretty warm and it is shielded from the wind better than the "open water" too.

If anyone wants some nice, easy diving though, it isn't bad.
