Anyone been out at the island recently? Any viz and temp reports for those going over for the weekend? Inquiring minds want to know!

Last Sunday - Water was 66 degrees, 30 to 60 foot vis, blue, ton's of Bat Rays, Black Sea Bass. Dive sites were Big Geiger, Cherry Cove, and Lulu Reef. Water is definitely warming up. I'm going to assume (hope for) the same conditions this weekend. Going on Sundiver Express this Sunday.

66 at depth or surface?

Muzikbiz is that the boat with captain kyaa? How is that boat in general?

How is the ride over given that we were closed for shore diving this week in laguna? I get seasick but want to make the crossing for good diving?

The Express usuasally has either Ray or Kevin at the helm now, and Jules as DM. Kyaa is running a 6 pack (Sundiver II) under Selky Charters. Both of these boats are fast (1hr 15 minutes to and from the island) and handle rough seas well- although the swell outlook for the weekend looks like that is a non-issue. Looks pretty flat for the 3 days between the mainland and the island.

Lopez116, what Merxlin said :D I was on Sundiver Express. The boat Kyaa has is a 6 pack, and is plenty stable. Can't go wrong with either boat.

Any reports on viz and general conditions at Casino Point, other than the obvious "it will be crowded this weekend"? We're going over to dive the park tomorrow (Saturday) and earlier in the week I heard reports varying from 30 ft viz (from Scuba Luv and Catalina Dive) to 10-15 (from Dr Bill)

Anyone here going to the Malibu Divers dive extravaganza weekend at Emerald Bay?

Thanks muzik and merxlin

Made the crossing today, windy in the morning, the return trip was very nice, pretty smooth.
Water temp 64 at depth (around 35'). did 3 dives Sea fan grotto, eel cove, and indian rock.
There was some current at indian rock.
VIS was 20'+ at sea fan grotto in the shallows <30', deeper it was less maybe 20'
Sun came out around 0930 and it was a very nice warm day.
Lots of life to see.
Enjoy.
