Ca Ships to Reefs has identified a partially-cleaned destroyer in British Columbia that needs rescuing... and sinking. The BC sink group ran out of money/went bankrupt and the destroyer's fate now lies in the BC court system. There's a chance it can be grabbed.

San Diego is the only location in Ca that has an EIR (Environmental Impact Report) and local permissions to sink a ship in place. That's significant.

It's going to be a short lead time. We've seen excited proclamations like this before, I know. However, I think this is the real deal and is the best possibility of getting another warship-turned-reef yet.

BOTTOM LINE:

CSTR needs to put together, quickly, a sink group in San Diego. Most importantly, they need someone to lead this group (taking help & guidance from CSTR).

HELP WANTED: A mature, business-minded man or woman to take the lead of a (as-yet-to-be-formed) San Diego sink group. Experience with the ship industry and/or non-profit organization is a plus. Must exhibit a level-headed, yet passionate, drive to succeed and possess a decent amount of charisma, business acumen, and ability to talk to individuals from all corners (politicians, reporters, potential donors, helpers, etc). Retired (or semi-retired) status would be useful as this endeavor will take a LARGE time commitment.

Anyone here see themselves in that blurb? Perhaps you know of someone like that? Contact CSTR or email CSTR Officer, Eleanore, at "Emrewerts at aol.com"

MEETING: There is a meeting for potential leaders and assistant leaders next Tuesday night (June 4) at 7 pm. Giovanni's Pizza Restaurant 9353 Clairemont Mesa Blvd San Diego, CA 92123. Spread the word and join us! Please RSVP to Eleanore (contact info above) and let her know you're coming.

This is an opportunity that may not come again for many years. CSTR needs the support of the entire dive community.
