Looking to dive while visiting Hawaii @ End of July

Looking to set up a dive trip while visiting a friend in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii at the end of July.

I am not staying at a resort. I do not know where to start to find a place where I can sign up to dive or locations that would be fun to dive at. I do not have a dive buddy, as none of my friends are certified. It has been 2 years since I last dived, so I do not know if I need to take any test to brush up on dive safety.

I will need to rent some dive gear as well.

Suggestions?

would recommend Kaimana Divers in town if you are staying on south shore oahu...small operation, very conscientious and customer oriented...Gabe, the owner, is often posting here under scottitheduck name and I suspect he will answer you here on the board...they will accomodate you with rental gear and refresher if you need it....aloha...peter
