Hello
This is my first post here ,so i just started scuba diving "seriously" and i want to buy my first camera for underwater photography i don't have great expectations i just want some decent pics out of it .So my eye dropped on J1 and here i am asking if the J1 will do the job

I would say look at the Olympus micro-four thirds cameras, there is a much better lens selection for underwater photography, and more housing options.

If you've got a Nikon 1 J1 already, you might want to take a look at the Nikon WP-N1 housing that is made specifically for that camera and the kit 10-30mm lens. On sale at B&H Photo for only $96. Been having a lot of fun with that combo for the last twelve months.
