I'm looking to do some training with some inexperienced divers. I'll be coming in the area for a few days. They want to go over some basic skills and get more comfortable in the water.

Is there an easy dive site that doesn't have a lot of current/surf that we could do it?

What's the visibility and temperature normally? I know generally it's 7mm hood/gloves or dry suit.

Thanks

Most dive classes are taught at LaJolla Shores. LaJolla Cove is also an easy entry except it's down a flight of steps. And parking will be tough unless you go early. Pretty much everything you need to know about San Diego diving is here: Divebums - A San Diego Dive Website

Scripps Pier is in that area also for wave height measurement: http://cdip.ucsd.edu/?sub=observed&nav=recent&xitem=buoy_ww3&units=english&tz=PDT&stn=073

Another alternative is the Breakwater in Monterey. Easy entry (though with stairs), hardly ever surge or wave action. temp around now 50-53, vis a be a bit icky until you get a few yards from the shore.
