Hi,
just looking for some opinions, thinking going to Roatan in November, just wondering if its worth it?
if not what are the other options
thanks

Whether it is worth it is a decision you need to make, Just so it's an informed decision you need to understand that November has been the wettest rainiest month pretty much forever and while there is certainly a possibility of good weather if you WERE hoping for monsoon type rain then November would be the best chance to get it. I have been there the last many Novembers but I also have averaged bette than three months a year on the Island, If I could go for only a week or so I would NOT choose November

My first Roatan trips were with an LDS that did their annual CCV trips every November. It rained, to be sure, sometimes a lot, but we never seemed to lack getting dives in. My worst RTB trips specifically in terms of fewest number of dives have been due to tropical storms in hurricane season (twice), though the seas at that time of year can also be remarkably calm when there is an absence of storms (true probably anywhere in the Caribbean). And, of course, storms from the north during winter can be trouble for diving, especially if you aren't diving from the south side of the island.

I travel during rainy seasons a lot because its also the cheapest. I'll be in Roatan for Canadian thanksgiving (Oct 12 - 19). What I've usually come to expect is liberal does of (at least partially) wet days but usually at least a couple days of sunshine. I figure I'm under water anyway so the rain doesn't bother me much.

Wet ? Yes, Thye issue is when people uninformed plan a trip in some of the wettest times and think just that, We will be wet anyway, they forget about being cold on surface intervals, they forget about loss of visibility due to runoff, they forget about night dives cancelled becue the minimum number of people did not sign up because it was raining and chilly

Whelp, we are going this November over US Thanksgiving. Staying at CCV. Last two years were wet ones in Bonaire, thought we'd try and get wet somewhere else  Will it be epic? Probably not. Will I be underwater? Most likely. Am I on holiday? Definitely.

So you're going to be there for the Seahorse Festival.

Well, at least there at CCV you'll have covered boats that are designed for rough weather, and night dives don't get cancelled due to minimums. The rest that RTB mentions might well occur... or you might be lucky ducks and have a Thanksgiving Feast !

My wife and I are going to AKR over US Thanksgiving week because our work schedules allow it and because it was economical. AKR had a 2nd diver half-off promo, and a roundtrip on the Delta nonstop from Atlanta cost only 35,000 Skymiles.

Last year we did Cozumel over Thanksgiving. It rained in Coz quite a bit and was difficult to warm up on surface intervals. I appreciated my 5 mm suit. From what I've heard, Roatan is even rainier than Cozumel. I was in Roatan once before, in May or June--no rain. If this is a learning experience, so be it. I'm sure we will have fun.
