So, I currently own a pair of F1 Yellow-Tips in size "regular", which fit my BARE 7mm wet-boots (USA-9) quite well. My Mares drysuit boots are a "29-11-45", which I assume means size USA-11.

Anyway, the question I have is this: What size Yellow-Tip do I need for my drysuit? I'd like to order a second pair, but I'm not sure if I need XL or XXL.

Normally, I'd go try them on and purchase from my LDS, which I totally support. However, I live in Germany where the selection is rather limited. I understand that ScubaToys has an excellent return/exchange policy, but the return shipping is expensive, and it sucks to have to wait an additional 4 weeks for a silly mistake. I'd rather just order the right size from the beginning.

Any thoughts?

Two side questions:

I'd also like to know the recommended amount of stretch the spring should exhibit when worn, as well as how far up the sole of my boot the foot plate on the fin should sit?

Thanks!

Hi Ludwigsv,

With a size 11 boot, I would recommend an XL F1. The springs are adjustable and have a max setting due to the internal limiting cord. 3/4 of your boot should sit inside the foot pocket. Hope this helps.

I think that about covers all of it. Thank you.

I have a similar question. I have a whites fusion boot size 9 and will be upgrading to a whites evo 3 boot (I assume size 9?). Wondering what size of f1 fin I should purchase. LDS does not have gear to try on. Thanks.

I'm about to pick up some F1's and I wear a size 10 bare trek boot with my drysuit. Will XL work? I'm in the right size range but I wanted to double check because I have read the pocket on the F1 is generous. For reference, my boots fit well into XL atomic splits.

I wear size 8 Santi flex sole boots with a Regular/large F1. They fit perfect. I'd imagine a larger sized boot would require XL. A size 9 might be ok with the Regular/large depending on thickness of sole.
