Do you know an outstanding individual who has significantly contributed to scuba diving safety? Help us recognize them for their efforts to improve the safety of our sport! Nominate them for one of the most prestigious awards in the dive industry: The DAN Rolex Diver of the Year Award.
We are looking for an individual who:
+ is passionate about diving
+ promotes and supports DANs mission and dedication to incident prevention, management and protection
+ demonstrates exceptional dedication to establishing a culture of dive safety
+ fosters awareness and practice of dive safety at all times
+ is committed to the highest level of safety and care for the environment
+ goes above and beyond to ensure all divers:
+ prepare smarter through proper dive training education, equipment maintenance and safe predive rituals
+ dive smarter by exercising dive safety protocols such as buddy checks, planning and adhering to conservative diving profiles and maintaining a high level of situational awareness
+ respond smarter through first aid training and continuing education
Here's How You Nominate Them:+ Write a brief description of your nominees merits and contributions to dive safety.
+ Submit it to the nomination committee by emailing your nomination and description to Garrett Broyles at gbroyles@dan.org.
+ Nominations must be received no later than December 2, 2013.
The DAN Rolex Diver of the Year Receives: An all-expenses-paid trip to the 2014 Beneath the Sea Dive Show in Secaucus, New Jersey, on March 28-30, where they will receive an Oyster Perpetual Rolex Dive Watch and a commemorative wall plaque in recognition of their efforts.
Rolex donates $15,000 to DAN to fund this experience for the guest of honor as well as to support essential safety initiatives such as medical research and services, safety education and first aid training.
How We Select the Winner: The selection committee is comprised of DAN President and CEO Bill Ziefle, senior DAN staff, at-large members, Rolex representatives and past award winners. All qualified nominees will be notified on December 3, 2013. The winner of the 2014 DAN Rolex Diver of the Year Award will be notified of this honor by January 15, 2014.
