Decided to cash in on the heat wave and did some ice diving on Spectacle lake today with my dive buddy John. We always shovel "rays" to let light into our dive area and use as a guide to get back to the hole (opening) if we should get lost or disconnected. Having a plow truck allows us to get a little more creative. We have shoveled designs in the snow on the surface and they appear to light up when you see them under the ice. We have some new video technology that allows us to get the arieal footage. It is a DJI Phantom 2 with a go pro 3 mounted on a zenmuse gimbal. We shot some really cool video as well, but that will take some time to edit. We got the idea when we were diving on forest lake a couple of weeks ago and had planes low flying over us to see what we were doing. here are a couple of pics from the day. We use a 150' safety line, so the circle is 300' and the center lines fun north south, east west.
