Hello. A friend and I plan to dive some of the wrecks out of Milwaukee in the end of August. For those who are locals or, have had some experience, can you recommend a charter operation to us? I found one, but two dives are $80! Is the normal for the area?? I'm used to paying $55 or less. We would like to be able to rent doubles (preferably steel).

Thank you.

Adam

Sad to say, but $80 for a two tank trip isn't way out of line for diving in the area. It's a short season but the bank wants to get paid year-round, so prices are higher than some warm-water locales. Don't expect anything fancy from any of the local charters.

Tank rentals are easy but doubles maybe harder to do. You don't see many AL doubles around here, so if you can find them to rent they will probably be steel.

Three suggestions - there are probably more but I've used these guys for years when I'm up their way...

Hey reefraff,

Do you think we can talk Greg into taking us out for 2 dives on the Vernon for $80. Sign me up!.

Pirate's Cove is the shop that runs the "Len-der" charter. I'm pretty sure they don't have doubles in their rental inventory.

You might try Deep Blue...it's a newer shop that's geared more towards the technical end. I know they offer mix, but not sure if you can rent doubles.

If you can't rent doubles at Deep Blue the only other shop, I know of, that might help is in Madison WI about 70miles west of Milwaukee.

I know she has a number of doubles in the shop that she loans to students taking tech classes...unk if she would rent them.
