Yes, sometimes the flex components can require a moderate amount of force to connect them. Use the included lubricant to reduce the friction and make it easier to "pop" the pieces together.

As someone else said, just use the lubricant. However, if you find yourself often changing it, there exist pliers made specifically to assemble the stuff. Just look on amazon or google for "locline tool" and you'll see them.
