The 18 ft oarfish that was found off Catalina a while back was still alive when it was seen the day before. I was asked by a group to go to the site and film it swimming in the water but I had no way to get there. It was discovered dead on the bottom the following day. The only one I've had a chance to film up close and personal was about 18" long (and dead).
