Hi Sherlock,

Sue Hamilton here with Explorer Ventures Liveaboard Fleet. Again this season, Carpe Vita Explorer's Deep South trips were a success! For starters, visibility was very good. Special treats included a visit at the back of the boat by a whale shark, giving our guests time to snorkel with it as it snacked on plankton; hammerheads on a dive in Gaafdhal; a sail fish at the end of that dive and lots of topside dolphin encounters. Like last year, we saw the thresher shark at Fuvahmulah and what appeared to be a sun fish, though far in the distance. The channel diving lived up to its reputation, with strong to OMG currents and lots of sharks! The British Loyalty wreck dive in Addu did not disappoint, with an incredible manta dive, making for a perfect ending to a great trip.

What makes these trips very special, in addition to the unique shark sightings and thrilling channel diving, is the remoteness of the area. Even though more and more boats are doing this itinerary because it is so special, its unlikely they start and finish on the same dates so on many dives we manage to be the only ones on a dive site. The diving in the Deep South is still pristine and unpredictable with surprise encounters, offering almost everything you can imagine.

We will have some new video footage from these trips soon so keep an eye out.

Thanks Sue, looking forward to seeing the video.
