Visiting San Diego May 10-15

Hi Folks
I'm going to be visiting San Diego in May and am looking for some advice on good operators and perhaps find a buddy to dive with.
I'll be bringing my dry suit and gear. I'm guessing water temps will be in the 60's.
Any tips would be appreciated

Probably optimistic on the water temp. Plan for low 50s at depth. It can change a bit. Look up Marissa Charters.

Divebums - A San Diego Dive Website has a lot of good info also.

Most of the San Diego based boats are at the bottom: California Dive Boats : The Official Page - they'll have calendars/schedules etc. on their websites.
In SoCal the DM stays on the boat so you can make special arrangements for your own if wanted.

+1 for Marissa. A great boat, great crew.

You can save a lot if you can get onto one of Power Scuba's trips on this boat. (Or any of the others.) Typically a seat on a Power Scuba charter costs about 30% - 40% less than the same trip on an "open charter".

Also Power Scuba is a great way to meet local dive buddies and get the lowdown on local dive spots. They run shore dives at least once per week around La Jolla, usually at the Shores.

Update: Bill Powers has mentioned he'll be adding a bunch of new trip dates on the Marissa very soon, so keep an eye on the Power Scuba meetup page.
