We just got back in from a dive at The City of Houston (About 45 or so miles off the coast of Wrightsville Beach, NC) and that was one of the most interesting dives I have ever been on. The life down there was insane, there were so many different kinds of fish, lobster and other marine life down there. A few people on the charter also were able to get some artifacts from the wreck. Just a little background on the City of Houston: It was a ship sailing from New York to Texas carrying Christmas goods and other goods, when it sank from a storm and everything that was left on there was lost. Currently, the ship is under a lot of sand and has a lot of life growing on it. It sank in 1878. Has anyone on here ever encountered any other kinds of dives like this? It was sick to say the least!

Am curious as to what the charter crew had to say about people taking artifacts. I assume the wreck wasn't "protected".

Nah, it isn't. Nearly all of the ship is under the sand. People have been finding and taking bits and pieces off this wreck for years, it's legal.
