Hey all, I'm leaving for a big family dive vacation to curaçao tomorrow and am wanting advice on cool waterfront bars and restaurants. The family doesn't drink at all but my brother and I do, so we'll need some places to get away to.

Oh, and any other fun activities to do while there are welcome too. It's a dive vacation but I'd like to do some other things, if possible, as well.

Thanks!
Preston

Check Tripadvisor?

Pirate Bay could be ok for the family - it's a bar on the beach with music some nights. There's also a long pier/boardwalk there. Pirate Bay Curacao | Beach Club Curacao |
Surf and Turf is pretty eclectic for a beach restaurant. | Beachside Restaurant Surf&Turf - Curaçao |
There's Blues at the Avila Hotel. Nice Jazz Bar. Avila Hotel - Blues Bar & Restaurant

The biggest party is probably at Mambo Beach but not really with the kids. MAMBO BEACH CURACAO
Lots of casinos on Curacao - most hotels have one. The best is Carnaval at the Renaissance. https://www.facebook.com/CarnavalCasinoCuracao

The swinging bridge/shopping downtown is a big attraction. Pontoon Bridge- Curacao Bridges- Queen Emma Willemstad, Dutch Queens, Landmarks
The MegaPort is near the Otrabunda side so that area can be crowded with cruisers during the day.

The Rif Fort complex is a mix of old fort and new shops/restaurants/bars.

There's also the Seaquarium (think small SeaWorld) and the Ostrich Farm. An interesting thing they do at the Seaquarium is let kids feed nurse sharks - IDK the age requirement. And they have Dolphins.

Hey Preston,

If I am right you are staying at Coral Estate. There isnt that much action at night in that area.

You have Karakter at Coral Estate, but the beers will cost you.

5 min away from Coral Estate you have a local bar at "williwood" nothing fancy, but beers are a lot cheaper!! If you want anything else you will need to drive to town.

There's those at the Lodge Kura Hulanda. 2 restaurants and 1 bar. Caribbean Restaurants at Lodge Kura Hulanda and Beach Club Curacao Unless the new owners improved it, the Grill is an order at the window between dives place although there's a decent deck. It's beach level, the Lodge is on the hill above it. My friend's wife - a Curacao resident - told us LKH serves food the latest in that area.

Nearby are Jaanchies and Rancho El Sobrino. Sol Food is an option Fri-Sun only - gets good reviews here. Curacao Sunshine - Sol Food You can see the Rancho bar in the header images here - it's not much: Rancho El Sobrino Restaurant We ate there one night - nothing memorable.

Not a lot of other restaurant choices - this could be all of them - Sabana Westpunt, Curacao Restaurants: See 7 restaurants with 820 reviews - TripAdvisor

A nice bar a short drive south is the one at Bahia resort in Playa Lagun - Bahia Beach Bar - Lagoon Ocean Resort Lagun is also a very good dive. Google Earth puts Lagun 4 miles south of Westpunt.

Sol Food (only open on the weekends) is good
Landhuis Misje is good
Jaanchies is famous, the food is hit or miss but the place has character. And possibly bats swooping through your table if you time it right. It's the sort of place to try at least once and decide for yourself.
There's a place called Rancho Sabrino, but we've never gotten there. I think it's more "local" than the other local places.

Landhuis Daniel is not in West Punt, it's part way back to civilization. But it's a good place and at least not ALL the way back to town.

I have no idea about the food at Kura Hulanda lately. Our first visit there, too long ago to be relevant, the food was pretty good. Our last visit, a few years ago, it mostly sucked. (Though they had a AYCE pasta buffet night that was pretty good.) Now there is new management - who knows.

Anyplace good you'll probably need reservations, because there are so few options out there.
