Hey there!

Wondering if anyone has done diving around the Huron National Forest area, preferably the inland lakes so we can do shore dives. A bunch of us are camping up at the Rifle River recreation area and would love to combine our two great loves into one trip :). Suggestions are welcome!

Cheers!

Alcona Dam pond is dark and murky, but tractors and a few small boats lie at the bottom and max depth is around 40. There is also an underwater forest when the dam was built in 1924, so be aware of entanglements. Same goes for Loud Dam pond, although I don't know what is of interest at the bottom (30ft max). The other dam ponds are all the same in depth and water, with not much to see.

Hubbard lake has stuff in it and is far clearer than the dam ponds. It's also deep with a max depth of 85ft.

A couple of older divers used to harvest boat anchors from the fishinng hot spots on Foote Pond by Old Orchard Park. The site is west of Oscoda on the Au Sable.
