Are there any dive locations on the North shore of Chaleur Bay. Basically, I'm looking for anything in and around the New Carlisle area. Thanks in advance.

Never been up on that side of New Brunswick. I dive the Deer Island, New Brunswick/Eastport, Maine area as we have a summer home in Lubec, Maine. Hopefully one of the more local divers can assist you.

If you don't have a copy of The Combined Atlantic Diver Guide you may want to acquire one. It lists many sites for Atlantic Canada. I found it indispensible when diving Nova Scotia a couple years back and use it while diving the Fundy Bay area nowadays.

You won't hit anything more the 15' deep. Unless you go out on a boat. There are a few bottle dives.. but like adshepard said you may want to pick up the Atlantic Diver guilde.

Sorry for not replying earlier but I've been too busy diving in Lake Ontario! Thanks for the offer and if I ever bring my dive gear down, I'll look you up. I grew up in New Carlisle and my folks live in Bonaventure still. Do you have any details on your dives?

You're English is fine, never worry about that. For someone that grew up down there, my French is horrible. Thanks for the info!

As it was rightly pointed out, the Bay of Chaleur is very shallow. During the September long weekend, a buddy and I did a shore dive in Pokeshaw, in northern N.B. We were able to a 60 minute dive on a single tank!

Keep in mind tha the FQAS regulations are changing on April 1st 2005 and diving in Quebec will apparently require different certs. ?? If you go with a charter that is...

Does anyone know the actual depth of the Bay off shore? I'm not asking for dive info but more for UFI just out of curiousity.

In regards with the changing of certifications to dive in QC, I'm getting the required paperwork this wknd during the last 3 qualifying dives for my AOW.

How are the temps and the vis in the Bay?

You're actually the 2nd Canuck Diver that I know on this board...

I had to go back in my logbook.

Regarding depth offshore in the Bay of Chaleur, I did a dive from a boat with Club des Oursins, in Anse-Bleue (N.B.) back in August 2001. We did a dive on the wreck of the Louise P.; the top deck was at 70 feet. The same day, we also did a scallop dive off Grande-Anse, with a max depth of 45 feet. On both dives, vis was about 20 feet.

In September 2004, I did a shore dive in Pokeshaw (N.B.); our max depth was 25 feet, and water temperature was 60 F (about 16 C) and vis was about 20 feet.

I hope this helps you...
