Its hot out but the water was a very pleasant & refreshing 78 at surface. We are at Dirty Shirt and its crowded with cars and jet skis. Desert Tortise was worst. Water is still high enough that alot of Dirty Shirt is still underwater so it really seems crowded.....oh well....we're here...we have equipment and we each have a full set of doubles. Cant waste the gas!
Had to swim out at bit as we were stuck in the cove (only place to park) Descended to 15 ft. Good enough. Tied off to a rock and headed out doing line drills. Found ourselves running a gully at 25-30ft of water. Viz between 5-10 ft. Avg for most of the dive was 7-8ft. Thermocline at 30ft which was a little depression in the gulley. In this depression the viz dropped to 2 ft. We actually stayed on top of it as the bottom was 32 ft here. There were areas off to the side and that we passed through that were milky white, on the bottom 2 feet. Couldnt see anything in those patches...Kinda weird looking. Did two 35-40 min dives up and down the gulley doing drills. Saw a 2 ft carp (?) and a few other smaller fish, no idea what they were. Several small trees that made for great tie offs.
All and all, not a bad dive for skills and drills....... :daisysmil

Sunday at Lake Pleasant 7/11/04

Vista Point had 15ft vis, water temp was 79 Suunto degrees above 35ft with a significant thermocline below that. Two dives in before 11:30am, the vis started to drop the later it got.

Nice day also, running line and shooting bags.

Dived Vista Point w/ Bob.
Wednesday, 7/21 in the water @ 3:30 PM.
42 foot max avg depth 24. 74 minutes
temp 81 suunto degrees above 35, freezing below.
viz 15 foot.

Suited up in 110 degree weather, went running into the water with sweat dripping down our faces. Water level is down quite a bit and suddenly our usual dive site looks much different. Steady stream of boats could be heard while we were under. Brought some corn to try to feed the fish... don't ever use corn for bait! next time I'm bringing worms.

Tony.
