Did you ever tell or did I miss it?

Bummer, Dewd!

no, i never told, but since you ask, alas...

well, Smokeaire, Simbrooks, Wings, and I went on a drift dive in the Santa Fe River.
visibility was about 15 feet, and i took a few pictures and called it a day.

i then put the camera in a utility pocket that i keep on my right side. it is my custom
to lock the little latch keeping the pocket shut, and i have no reason to believe i did not on this ocasion, though
I do not remember if i did or not.

i did not invert or do anything weird for the remainder of
the dive.

we then exited and i took off my gear. i do not recall if the
camera was there or not.

Smokeaire and i then walked to get our cars, leaving our gear
unnatended for about fifteen minutes.

upon our return, we secured our gear, ate with the other
guys, and went for another dive.

while gearing up for the new dive, i noticed my camera was
missing. the utility pocket latch was open. the camera was not in my car nor in the immediate area.

i can think of two possible scenarios:

1. the camera dropped from my utility pocket at some point,
most likely because i failed to secure the latch, contrary to my
SOP; or

2. one of the dozens of people around our table took the camera while we weren't there.

i think that number 1 is more likely. in either case, i have no one but myself to blame for this one.

Crap! Don'tcha just hate it when that happens! Was the housing very bouyant? Maybe it'll be found down river.

Now you can upgrade and have a new toy! :D

nope, the housing is negative

and what a great camera it was... waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh.. waaaaaaaaaaaaaah

ok... that's out of my system

Straightforward of you to assume the responsibility and blame for losing it. However, I would not totally rule out possibility #2. Here we call that "cockroachin" or "small kine Hawaiian borrowin".

That's a bummer, Andy! On the brighter side, like Dee says, now you can go out and get a new toy :boings:

That's why I never use camera that can fit in my BC pocket. Love to drag a big rig through water until my arms are sore :)
Sorry to hear about your loss!

If this happen too me I will get mad for a couple of days. Then excited again because I will buy a new toy.

So don’t worry too much and enjoy the new shopping. What will you buy???

thanks guys...

the problem is (grrrrrrrrrrr) that i had just bought a primary canister light, thus
blowing my diving budget for the next six months....

alas... it'll all work out in the end
