I'm about to head back to school down in southern MD, the St. Mary's/Lexington Park area. Is there anything at all down there worth diving, or is everything back up here with Millbrook and whatnot? I think I saw a dive shop out Rt4 toward Solomon's, but I don't know if they run any dives in the area...if you know what store I'm talking about, and have their info that would be great.
I come back to DC all the time, but if I can get some dive time in closer to school that would make things easier...

Ask around about a dive off Solomon's Island. That's the only thing I remember hearing up that way, but I don't get up there often enough to know. I know there was some shore dive up there, but I can't remember the name of it.

I actually went to St. Mary's College, but go figure, never dived down in Southern Maryland while I was there. I have always heard there is diving there, mostly shallow and mostly for fossils and such (which can be fun). I have pasted a couple links, including one on a German U-boat (U-1105). It's right at the mouth of the Potomac. Unfortunately I have no idea if there are organized trips there. It’s an advanced dive though (low to zero vis, 85 feet deep, with currents). So it’s not like a 85 foot warm water wreck dive in the Caribbean. I would try contacting the dive shops I listed and ask them if there are any trips to the sub. I am sure you know there is also a lot of wreck diving off the coast. One of the commonly used boats is the Surface Interval. Anyways I would contact one of the dive shops such as divers source and tell them you are interested in local (southern Maryland diving) and see what they say. Good luck.
