Does anyone know if the Ikelite housing for the Canon GL2 is also compatible with the GL1? They are very similar cameras after all. Also any idea why the wide angle lens is required? I'm debating getting rid of my GL1 and replacing it with a smaller cheaper camera/housing combo or just getting a housing for it (it's a nice camera after all)

Any suggestions?

Tim

P.S. I've also considered making my own housing - already have the 6" PVC.

what's the model number? I have been unable to find a G1 housing from them.

Thanks for the model number - and do you have to use the wide angle adapter with it? If so, is this to give it a wider depth of field, making focusing more automated?

I do not have a wide angle adaptor. I turned off the Cotinous(sp) autofocus and set it to only focus when I hold down the shutter button half way. Makes the battery last alot longer.

Oops I just made the mistake of typing in G1 instead of GL1 - sorry 'bout that - G1=Still camera, GL1=MiniDV so I guess my original question still stands - is the GL2 video housing compatible with the GL1?

I've also emailed Ikelite and will post their reply here as well.
