After researching for some time now I finally decided to add the YS-90 to my Canon A80. It is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Does anyone have any suggestions on settings, or other tips for a relative newbie with a new strobe.

Any help before I get it wet the first time would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Try practicing on land first to get a feel for what positions and placements work. Pretty sure the YS-90 will only be able to be used in manual with your camera so I guess you'll have to check out what settings once your down there. Use your camera in M mode will make it easier.

Take a look at these sights

As for your settings use the guide that comes with the strobe and bracket eg, if it says f8 then do a shot at f5.6 one at f8 and one at f11 they should all come out but one will stand out better than the rest and you will know for the future.
Hope this helps
