I'm a Fish!
My Wife and I will on a cruise in November and one of the stops is Catalina. I want to dive that day but I have no idea what outfit to call. The Cruise ship offers a 1 tank dive for $100...I don't think so! Any advice would be great.

You can dive for free at the dive park by the Casino, right in Avalon. Or, Catalina Divers Supply has boats that leave from Avalon.

Give me the $100. I'll rent you a complete diving package from Catalina Diver Supply for $50 and walk you over to the dive park at Casino Point to earn the other $50. If you have your own gear, that'll just increase my profit margin. :)

The cruise ship tender will drop you off at the Green Pier. Walk approximately 5 yards to Catalina Divers Supply, rent gear, walk another 500 yards to Casino Point (if that far), walk down the stairs into the dive park. You'll probably be there on a weekday, so rent two tanks to start with so you don't hafta schlep one back to get it refilled if you want to make two dives. You can also rent a really sturdy metal cart to haul everything.

That's what I was looking for! Thank You!

No problem...you'll have a great time. I was supposed to be there yesterday, but my van decided to break on the freeway on the way down to Long Beach. Oh well, next weekend will be here in 4 days...

Even better yet Just walk all the way to Casino Point... Head to CDS's Trailer there and rent all your Gear... Walk 50' or so to the stairs and enter <G>............ Try calling them at 1-800-353-0330 or 310-510-0330... You can talk to Jessica I think she will be there till the end of the summer seasson... She will be able to set you up with everything and get everything together....

Catalina Divers Supply or CDS
Hope this helps....

Jessica will only be managing CDS for another week. There will be a new manager after summer, but you can talk to anyone there.

If you need Nitrox, you will have to go through SCUBA Luv. They are a good shop and are located right up the street from the end of the green "Pleasure" Pier across from Vons Express.

You might check both of their web sites in advance of your trip.
