I have seen a good deal for a Oceanic Veo 250 computer (around £150/$280) and was interested in any opinions you may have on this computer. I can only find one review of it online and this appears to give mixed response. I need it for some decompression diving (dives less than 35m) but will mostly be doing non deco dives.

Anyone who uses this computer and can give the pros and cons that would be great. If I didn't get this I would probably buy a Suunto Gecko, but this seems like a very good deal.

Thanks

it discussed the 200 which is the module version of the 250. actually, i have the 200 but the functions are the same. the 200 has both buttons on the front while the 250 has one on the front, one on the side...

I think you'll find like most diving equipment, unless the one with the opinion has dived with all the competitors' equipment, its hard to get an objective impression on the item in question. I have been diving with the Veo 250 for 3 years now, & became instantly comfortable with its simple operation, terrific graphics, & probably most of all, its ease of recovering dive info for your log (you can even buy an interface cable/pc software & download on your pc - but pricey @ $100). I have mine installed in a compact console (compass on back; analog pressure & temp gauge in lower position front). Battery is truly user friendly to change. Many divers have commented on the manual being cumbersome & redundant, but I have noticed that it explains plainly how to do deco dives (though I never do). Great bang for the bucks.
