Dive Buddies - Labor Day Weekend

Okay, here's my weekly call for dive buddies for this weekend. Unless I end up going to Mexico (which I kinda doubt), I'm open Sun and Mon for diving anywhere from Malibu to Laguna or Catalina.

Looks like I'll probably go to Catalina Casino on Sat, so if anyone wants to join us feel free.

I'm looking too, if anyone feels like taking pity on a newbie who still has wet ink on his c-card.

Since my family is getting less time than diving is this month, I need to keep it to a half day. That means Laguna is my first choice. Although, maybe I could go farther by taking the family along to the beach. Hmm...

Well, Jim, you didn't take up my offer last week when you posted, but a group of us are meeting at BIG Corona on Sunday to dive if you want to join us. There will actually be lots of newbies here (like, just certified) - which is why we decided to pay the $10 for parking and not have to deal with the schlep up the hill. The surface swim is enough work. Planning on doing 2 dives, not sure exactly when yet, but probably looking at meeting around 9 and doing a brown bag lunch in between dives. Anyone who wants to join us is welcome.

saf_25, did I miss your post?? Geesh. Maybe I'm getting surface narcosis. (is that a thing?) Anyway, by Big Corona do you mean Corona Del Mar? A shiver runs down my spine when I think of Corona Del Mar. Did my first OW cert dives there. Visibility was somewhere between 15-20 inches. When we were done doing all our skills, I said to myself "I thought diving was supposed to be fun". That same day some teenage girls decided to swim past us, all the way out to the buoys, and one of them realized she wasn't going to make it (she was about half way out). She was exhausted and panicking. So our instructor grabbed her and pulled her into shore.

Anyway, sounds like fun. Thanks for the invite.

Sessions, I am definitely diving on Monday, so if you'd like to go you can drop by Upland, we'll pack your stuff in my van and head down to meet Pasley and whomever else. I'm free all day, but my guess is since it's Labor Day Monday we should probably go wherever we're going pretty early.
