I have recently purchaced an Ikelite Housing for my video along with a Prolite System. I have two questions for now:

1) Does anyone know where I can purchace a carrycase for the housing.

2) Where, (apart from this forum), can I get good advise on shooting underwater video, baring in mind I am a complete novice at it.

Look at Pelican and/or Storm Cases. Alot of photographers use them to customize a case to their needs.

Digital Diver has a great forum named Moving Pixels for everything pertaining to video.

You can also try www.wetpixel.com and Marty Snyderman also offers online courses at www.martysnyderman.com Or, I'm sure the folks at wetpixel can better guide you to other resources.

You dont say which housing so I don't know how big it is - if it as big as my housing for the DV-1000 it is sizeable and many cases won't hold it even if disassembled.

Before I got my big rolling pelican case (only practical if you have a couple/few setups) I had good success with an igloo rrolling ice chest (has pull handle and securable lid) with some foam cutouts. Somewhat primitive and hardly space concious, but it was cheap, safe and effective.

In addition to the sites previously mentioned, here's a couple I've found at least worth looking at:

http://www.videouniversity.com/forums/gforum.cgi?forum=6;
http://www.underwaterphotography.com/Video/default.asp
http://www.usvh.com/Hints.html
http://www.amphibico.com/video_tips.asp

And although it's a few years old now, there's the Jim Church book: Jim Church's Essential Guide to Underwater Video, Second Edition - if you can find it. (maybe on Amazon?)

And there's the underwater video group on Yahoo Groups. But I don't get a lot of useful information from there.

regards,

I use an Akona carry-on size roller bag with a set of Pelican divider inserts. The inserts are a set of padded pieces with Velcro tabs so you can set up the compartments any size you need. The main insert sets right into the main compartment of the roller bag.

I'm able to take two strobes, MM camera, two sets of arms, film, all accessory lenses, 16 AA batteries and charger, and my 10W HID light head with still a little room to spare. It gets a little heavy, but no worse then if packed with clothing.

Also, if for any reason the camera has to be checked, then it's well protected during baggage handling.

I also pack in my luggage an insulated cooler that folds down to about 1" thick to carry the camera to/from the boat. This doubles as a personal rinse tank if the boat isn't set up for cameras.
