Diver_Jan:
How was Reef Point? It's usually a pretty cool spot to dive.
I went yesterday (Sunday 9/12), and it was a nice morning. We followed the reef out to max depth of 49 ft, vis around 25 ft. Followed by clouds of garibaldis and middling-sized sheephead (they must be fed by divers), dive-bombed briefly by a lone sea lion, ran across a lobster, a couple of big cabezon, tons of painted greenlings. Also saw what looked like a few abandoned lobster cages and a fresh-looking anchor that someone must have given up on. Temp at max depth was 63 F, end of dive 72 F. For a second dive we went down the road to Shaw's Cove just for a little variety.

Did two dives yesterday, at deadman's/Seal rock & at Shaw's. Waves less than 2', no surge to speak of, 20+ visibility (even better inside the notches in the reef), water temp. is an unbelievable 70 - 71 degrees (too hot for a hood!). Lots of sealife about ... the reefs seemed packed with large octo's, with two on top of each other (mating season?). Both sites were packed with dense clouds of small polarized fish (anchovies?), which is unusual. Also saw a few horn sharks, played with the Sea Lions. Add to the great conditions the fact the recent storms have replentished the supply of new masks & snorkels to be found and it's an A++ time to be diving!
