Sorry to post again, but we are heading to anacapa, blind, so to speak. Three of us are dragging the boat to Ventura, this Saturday. We now know we will launch out of the "channel islands marina, for a 12 mile cruise to the east end of Anacapa. ...That's all I have been able to find out. None of us have ever been there, so other than the "east end" and a GPS....i have not been able to get any specific places at the "east end" that are okay for Spear fishing. Anyone who has any hot tips for Anacapa....we would really appreciate it. the day is planned for a 3 tank day.....I have over a 100 dives and i am the least experienced of the 3. HELP!!! :06:

Generally speaking, the front side has the most life, (Cause it's a preserve!), the backside has the currents. Still, one of my favorite places to dive!

Here are some sites I have in my GPS for Anacapa. None of these are any big secret and I grabbed them when I was on one of the public dive boats:

Underwater Arch : N34 00.734' W119 21.815'
Cathedral Cove : N34 00.985' W119 22.120'
Goldfish Bowl: N34 00.892' W119 26.265'

of all the spots, underwater arch, is the coolest. The sea lion rookery is near underwater arch, when you are on your way there, keep your eye on the coast of Anacapa and you will see them all chilling out. Drop down to a sandy bottom and they should come to you.

Landing cove is pretty cool as well. Don't have coordinates of it, but it is the far east tip of Anacapa where you will see a lighthouse and a dock with some stairs leading up the hill. It is a cool dive, but there is light boat traffic in the area because this is where the ferry unloads people that want to hike Anacapa, so be aware.

Be aware of the no-hunt/take zones out there as there are quite a few.
