It's probably just be my own shortcomings in using this software, but I just can't get myself to like it.

My downloads work flawlessly.

However, I can't fully add in dives manually (that were not done with the computer). I can add some of the dive information, but when I get to the date field, some kind of fatal error comes up. I reported this error to the tech support email address given for the software several times. I think I would have more luck sending Viagra email spam to a convent. Nothing at all from Oceanic tech after over a year of trying...

Also, since my computer is AI, it obviously calculates SAC to arrive at air remaining times. However, the computer must have decied that this information will only be shared on a "need to know" basis, and I am not on the "need to know" list.

Does anyone know how to choke the SAC rate out of this software? It must be very simple and I am sure I will kick myself when someone points out how to do it quite easily.

Everytime I input/add dive manually and save, I would find the divesite and time in/out info screwed up the next time I open OceanLog. The downloads do work flawlessly with Window XP but the info that you input manually like surface temp. can suddenly change according to OceanLog's whim?! I haven't been using OceanLog long but am growing to despise it.

Yes it is a POS...(But it is in an Access database, so It would be pretty easy to Enhance.)

SAC Rate...It doesn't calculate it. It just tracks the change of pressure over time.

(It can't calc SAC rate because it doesn't know how big the tank is)

Interesting...
Then how does it arrive at your estimated air remaining time w/o tank size? I guess it just extrapolates on how the psi is moving...

How do other programs make use of SAC? I'M not sure if the Suunto prgram calculates this. Do other computers require you to input the tank size?

Indeed it is pretty lame. Even my very outdated Citizen HyperAqualand software does a better job with the log keeping and features. I am not sure why the software manufacturers cannot have a more robust software that can handle the computer data, the log entries, all the calculations and even the option of printing it out for the log book. And also a HTML output would also be nice so that the dives and it's profile can be used.

Exactly...
I mean granted the softwre is "free" but the download cables are like 100 to 200 dollars. Any I'd be happy to pay 100 bucks for a piece of software that actually works and has meaning...

New computor, why don't you guys scream at the manufacturer, let them fix the bugs.......

Yep.

Suunto's Dive Master software you put in what kind of tank which includes actual volume...rated pressure...actual start and end pressure. Take that with you profile and it can calc your sac rate for the dive. So only the client app can determine you sac.

The Oceanic has all the correct raw data...but their client software sucks.

No bugs...then again...but no features
