I'm trying to compare DEPP and DAN for their coverage of damaged/flooded camera gear. Thought I'd see what information I could get from those of you who have used various insurance companies and the results :06: . I'm one of those who haven't "yet" :eyebrow: , and would like to prepare a little for when I "have" :11: .

Thanks,

NevadaM

I used to have DAN but changed to DEPP when my policy came up for renewal. Reason:
quote:
We DO NOT provide coverage for items that are lost underwater while you are diving, that fall of the back of the boat, or are swept overboard. Please see Divers PAC Coverage Document, #5 PERILS EXCLUDED which confirms that this policy does not insure against (d) items lost while in your care, custody and control – while in use both in and out of the water, dropped overboard or swept over-board.

The DEPP insurance is very comprehensive and it provides item replacement (not money for you to buy a replacement). It gives you worldwide coverage and they are very professional and prompt with any enquiries.

Just my two cents....

This is one question that has been asked many times (I have also asked myself:wink:)...and I know that Dee or Gilligan would have something to say to this but since they are not around right now I'll post links to other threads and hope it helps:

I use DEPP. I had a camera stolen once and DEPP replaced it very promptly. I was in French Polynesia at the time and it arrived less than a month later. All i had to do was give them a police report.

Great stuff

Thanks for the help everybody. :eek:ctopus:

Justleesa:god:, one of those links talked about using their standard insurance company, I'm with Farmers, I'll give them a call and run the usual questions by them. See what their options are. :snorkel:
