Short report to give an update on Deerfield Beach.

1. Parking is available on the south end of the beach drive. Road construction has moved to the north end.
2. New sand for the beach
3. Water temp was 78. A bit warmer deeper and off shore. Lots of cold spots, without much mixing.
4. Today was a bit choppy, & viz was below 20'; still some rollers, but not bad conditions.
5. Very weird - much of the patch reef is no longer exposed. Lots of sea grass is buried to its mid-height. Very different topography, like I'd never been diving there.
6. Some previously buried reef is now exposed.
7. The shelling isn't bad. New territory yields new shell finds

Thanks for the report. Someday I would like to dive with ya here, maybe it would be a better experience than my one time there. Saw sand, sand, sand dollars, sand, sand dollars and more sand.

Where in Deerfield is this particular spot? Is it near the fishing pier?

I am looking for a place to go on Friday, 11/26 in the morning to practice skills with my daughter. Usually I dive SE 8th Street in Pompano, but we want to try something different.

I saw a lot of sand yesterday - going to have to re-explore this place. Since our busy September, the landscape has changed significantly.

South of the pier, along the coastal road. At the point where the road curves west to detour around a condo, that is the entry to the spot allowed for scuba divers. But since the road is under construction, everthing is a little different. I'm not sure whether the lifeguards are going to allow entry all along the coast road.
