You might try over on spearboard.

Spearboard open in St. Pete or Tampa can't remember which in June I think. Also the St. Pete open.

Spearboard open is May 21 & 22. The format for the tournament will accommodate hunters from all over the Southeast. Hunt on Saturday, weigh-in on Sunday in Pasco County FL. Last year's tournament had hunters from Texas and NC.

Great tournament, lots of fun. Last year every competitor had a trip to the prize table. Even a friend of mine whose only entry was a 1.5 lb sheepshead.

"Team SlayRide/Charlestondiving Kicked some Florida *** at the SB OPEN this past year and brought the trophies home to SC.

Trophy for 1st place Hogfish
Trophy for 1st Place Amberjack
Trophy for BEST BOAT (Highest average shooter score)"
Thats what the boys in SC did last year.

Spearfishing Magazine has the schedule of all last years tournaments and rodeos on their events page. They all fell between April and September. Most are annual events and will soon have the new scheduled dates up. http://www.spearfishingmagazine.com/calendar/events.html

Their website links page has the links to all of the clubs and organizations that run them.

In addition to the two already mentioned, the FSDA runs the Southern Open and the States Freediving Championship.

Les and Rob did great on the Slayride in the SBO.

But my buddy, Headhunter took first place overall.
Sheri Daye took the first place womens trophy.
Chris Hill took first Juniors.

All Florida shooters.

I finished horrible this year...oh well, there's always next year!

The Spearboard Open uniquely allows divers to dive in their home waters as long as they can drive to New Port Richey on Sunday morning for the weigh-in.
Besides Carolinas, some came from LA, and the FL east coast and Keys.

This tournament will be huge next year, including exhibits and seminars.

Chad forgot to state that the SPONSORS for the SBO and St Pete Open ROCK!!!!

Can you say over $20,000 in prizes???

Wong/Aimrite guns, Riffe guns, Spearfishing Specialties guns, Rob Allen floats, BCs, dive computers, coolers, spearfishing charters in the Gulf and Baja Mexico - just about anything a spearfisher would want is at these tourneys. I was lucky enough to win the Wong FL Freeshafter that was GIVEN away to a woman shooter at last years Spearboard Open. Great events - attend them if you can - and EVERY fish counts and the company is spectacular! :)
