I went to DEMA in both Las Vegas and Miami (didn't go to Houston, but from what I understand, didn't miss anything) and there was a guy there advertising a gel heat pack intended for both wet and dry suit diving. He had one that was long and intended to wrap around your lower back, keeping you nice and toasty for a couple of hours. When it died, you simply popped it into a microwave and 'reactivated' it.

Does anyone remember the name of the company and/or bought/used one? If so, could you post any information available regarding it? I'm an occasional cold water diver and was wondering if it's worth the investment.

Thanks bunches

Lee

Before I went dry, I used something like this to warm my core and extend winter dives. The type I had had a little disk in it that triggered a chemical reaction. As it eventually cooled, the pack would become rigid. Inevitably, that seemed to take place directly over my bladder, LOL!

Anyway, I wore them between wetsuit layers because they were too hot next to the skin. I don't recall the price, but I don't think they were that expensive.

That's the one I saw at the shows. It had a disk you pressed and you could see the stuff turn from translucent to a frosty opaque as it warmed. Do you by chance remember the name of it so I could look it up on the web? Do you need it when diving in your dry suit in the winter? I plan on diving in CA (N. Channel Islands) in February, that's why the inquery.

Thank you!

No, I don't recall the name, but if no one else comes up with it, I'll dig through the dive locker closet tonight. I have not tried to use them with the drysuit. I had smaller packs that I wore between layers of neoprene. I am not sure how I would keep them in place with my drysuit, but I haven't really felt the need to try, either.
