Ft. Pickens jeddies usually makes for an easily accessible dive that can be lots of fun - however, Ivan damaged the road going to the Fort and the jeddies on the point. I had not heard of any reports on road conditions at Ft. Pickens Road since the hurricane itself so I decided to ride out there today after I completed a job that I had up the road. I didn't get too far before I reached the point where the road was torn up out of the sand and piled up in large hills of asphalt. Beyond the piles of broken asphalt was just a river of water. Its gonna be quite a while until we can drive back to the jeddies - we can always take a boat...

Pensacola Beach looks pretty good, they are taking all the sand that had washed onto the road and across the island and they are rebuilding the dune system. The water didn't look bad either, I would say an easy 15-20' of visibility, even with the waist-high surf. Looked nice. The pier on P'Cola Beach had damaged railings on the end from what I could see from the beach, but it was still open for fishermen and tourists.
