Recipe:

Cheerios fried in butter until browned (browner than they normally are).

Salt as desired.

Oh no, not the Cheetos. They make such a mess.

I have to ask, what is the point of frying Cheerios? Is it one of those gotta do it to appreciate it things? I love Chex party mix with Cheerios, especially when the sauce thoroughly soaks those puppies.

The point? Well, looking at it as a parent I think it probably went something like this (when I was a kid):

Kids: "Can we have popcorn?"
Mom: "We're out of popcorn."
Kids: "Ah, Mom, can you go to the store? We have to have popcorn when we watch [so and so]"
Mom: (Not wanting to go to store) "I have something just as good!" Finds cheerios in cupboard , etc.

We had them as kids, now my kids have them at Christmas watching Charlie Brown's Christmas. Everyone has their traditions. (No cheetos ever added ... just threw that in for Jonathan since he dissed my recipe.)

All right I guess I will try it. That is if my bird will share her Cherrios with me.
Good idea for a post dive snack. I wonder if blue gill like them.
