Today's Globe and Mail has a detailed story about the ordeal of Jean-François Joly and Rachel Gobeil. She works at a dive centre near Les Escoumins. They were waiting for their dive boat on the dock when the tsunami hit. To read the story, you may have to register (free).

I met Rachel over the course of my weekend of diving at Les Escoumins last Labour Day. Very friendly person and very professional and passionate about her work. She never mentionned she was heading to Asia, maybe they decided to go as a last-minute thing...

I will be returning to Les Escoumins later this Summer and I hope they will be able to recover from their injuries and that they will be again doing what they do best, that is organising dives and sharing their passion with others.
