I might be going to Morehead City in late April or early May.

What can you tell me of the diving in this area?

Are there a lot of sharks on the wrecks??

Do the sharks smile nicely at U/W photographers? Or do you have to grab the sand tigers by the tail and make them pose?

How deep are the wrecks?

Do the wrecks require any special certification just to look at them but not touch or go in?

How much does it cost to dive?

Thanks
Mike

Mike,

The only problem with the NC coast is the weather, a complete wild card!

The sharks will be there swimming patterns around the wreck and all you have to do is watch, figure the angle and get set for the next pass.

The wrecks, to the sand are in the 100 to 120 range, some have some height, some don't. As for certs for diving them, AOW is usually needed to get on the boat, dive police are usually not present ;) . Common sense is a highly desired trait, don't out dive your capabilities.

I have a week long charter out of Olympus the 20 to 24th of May. There are some spots still open if you're interested. This is the last week before Memorial day, and on the outer banks every week improves your odds for the weather. 3 days of this trip is a live aboard down to the wreck of the City of Houston.

Thanks for the ideas.

I am so pumped about this. I have to endure a few days at Hilton Head with my wife's friends(nice people) before I get the o.k. to dive in North Carolina.

Is there anywhere to dive in South Carolina??......or maybe in Georgia??

I want to see those sand tigers in North Carolina, though.

Thanks for the help
Mike
