I picked up a mask for a buddy today.

It is a Scubapro Clearview II. I thought it looked rather familiar. I compared it to a Genesis Panview that I have, and hey, they are the EXACT same mask minus the Scubapro/Genesis logo, and color.

So that was interesting. Does Scubapro own Genesis or versa visa?? What's up with this? I guess I'm not too surprised.

Interesting that one sells for more than the other.....

They all buy their masks from the same manufacturer in Taiwan or somewhere like that......Keep searching and you will find many knockoffs of common masks....

It's quite common practice for many manufacturers to "brand" equipments manufactured by a third party. A good example is Pelagic Pressure Systems dive computers. Pelagic is owned by Oceanic/Aeris but their computers are also "branded" and sold by Sherwood and Seemann, amongst others.

Sherwood most likely has the same mask as well. Click on the link below to see how big some of these companies are: Sherwoods massive, but some companies out there are just a name, and thats all! They make almost none of their own products, HTM of Italy, Sherwood valve/Harsco, Taiwan, and some French companies do it for them! Not one company makes 100% of their own products.

Do the research...it's a good laugh!
