we were at the utila lodge about a month ago...whatever you do, DO NOT take Atlantic Air. their planes were all grounded in la cieba and never made it to roatan for our flight. we ended up buying tickets on sosa to get to san pedro sula and their flight was about 3 hours late..but at least it got there...

We used SoSa airlines several years ago. They got us to the island without a hitch. the one draw back we found was having to clear customs in San Pedro Sula. Because you will be changing airlines customs must be cleared there, instead of on the island. Just leave enough time.

Fly into Houston or Miami and get a direct flight to Roatan. Contact Roatan Charters They can help you book your flights. http://www.roatan.com/

We fly through San Pedro Sula pretty often and have taken all the various island hoppers- Sosa is usually our favorite, they seem to have the most consistant schedule, although Atlantic is usually okay too. All three (Islena, Sosa and Atlantic) cost around $70 each way to the island. We usually just go thru customs and then ask which airline has the next flight- don't bother looking at the moniters- they all say on time! 9 out of 10 times you will be stopping in La Cieba- you usually have to get off the plane so they can refuel- airport staff will direct you, just make sure you take your carry-ons with you as you might change planes. Let me know if you have any more questions, have a good trip!

Sosa or Atlantic, makes no matter. The reason Greendog had to switch to Sosa was not Atlantics fault. Le Cieba was underwater and noone could get in or out. I know. I was there also. No big deal. Utila Lodge took very good care of us until the flood waters receeded.

We came through San Pedro Sula last week. Our preferences are> SOSA, Atlantic, then Islena. There is an American Airlines flight that arrives in SAP from Miami after the Continental flight arrive. The local airlines will delay their departures to the islands or La Ceiba in order that passengers arriving on the American fkight can make their connections to the islands. Otherwise they may end up having to find a place to stay overnight. This is particularly true with Utila as it has no lighted field. Our repeated use of SOSA has beem pretty good.

Since you're going to CCV, let Roatan Charters do it all. 800 282-8932.

Thanks everyone for the info. I was just wondering how their flights were. We will let Roatan Charters take care of everything. Now I just have to wait until June.
