MetroWest Dive Club’s Wrecks 2005 Symposium

The MetroWest Dive Club will be hosting its 13th Annual Wrecks Symposium, April 2nd, 2005 at the Keefe Technical High School in Framingham, MA. This year the show will focus on U-Boats and Submarines, with presentations to include a talk about discovery of the UB-88 in California, exploration of a rare 'electro-boot' U-2513 in Florida waters, history of U-boat activity off North America, and others.

We are very excited to announce that John Chatterton and Richie Kohler will be headlining the show this year to talk about their many U-Boat explorations. These divers as well as popular TV personalities will join us at the symposium to share their stories of exploration and discovery, including recent find of the long-lost U-215 off the coast of Newfoundland, visits to Hitler’s lost sub, the U-869, and search for the U-550, among others.

The show will also feature a unique Equipment exhibit, as well as Artifact and Photography exhibits, and a raffle with many prizes from major dive manufactures and local dive businesses will be held.

MetroWest Dive Club cordially invites both divers and non-divers alike to come and
socialize with our presenters, exhibitors, other divers, and guests. This annual event is a unique opportunity to learn more about maritime history, experience first-hand the
fascination that divers and non-divers have for these historic wrecks, and of course talk about diving!!

Our website http://www.mwdc.org/wrecks/ contains more information about the show, speaker bios, lists of exhibitors and prizes. Discounted admission tickets are available through the website as well.

Sweet! Nice job getting Chatterton and Kohler. I'll see you there for sure.

Great Matt - if you want you can get your Tixs on-line (hint, hint) :D

Just a quick update - the symposium is coming along nicely. We have some great raffle prizes, including DUI undies, wetsuits, SMB, reels, lift bag, several charters, and numerous others. The presenters are top notch - with fascinating talks to be given, a great and varied artifact and gear exhibits, as well as a photo exhibit. So come see the show, hang out with your fellow divers for a day, and join us all at the Meet-The-Speakers party afterwards. Tickets can be bought at the door, at the MetroWest dive club's meeting next Tuesday in Framingham, or securely online on the Wrecks 2005 webpage:

Wrecks 2005 is a non-profit dive symposium that is put on by MetroWest Dive Club - a very active dive club in the MetroWest area of Massachusetts. The show is something that the club has done for the last 13 years. We do it because as divers we want to share something that is important to us with the rest of the people - other divers and non-divers alike. This show is a fascinating way to learn a little more about maritime history from the very people that actually dive, explore, and uncover it. It's an opportunity to spend a day bonding and talking with other divers, and an opportunity to help a dive club keep going in these difficult (for diving) times. This is not a big commercial show, we are a relatively small (150-200 people) laid-back show that is put together by divers for divers. A number of ScubaBoard folks are going to be there as well. So come join us at Wrecks and say hi!
