Perhaps I missed it. But if not, does it seem odd to anyone else that the US gov't never issued an official statement on the number of American injured and dead?

H2Andy February 22nd, 2005, 11:40 PM well, the State Department did issue a tentative final count (18 dead; 15 presumed dead) http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/02/08/missing.americans.ap/ but they're still investigating. it will take a while to list the remaining 15 missing as dead. but, sadly, there's probably not much hope. Rick Murchison February 22nd, 2005, 11:45 PM The US doesn't keep tabs on all its citizens abroad. Unless someone reports an American missing, the State Dept may or may not find out. Very difficult to issue anything "official" under those circumstances. Ah, ok, I did miss that then. Thanks!
