Is it true that lobster really can't see red light? Seems like everytime I hit them with my UK100, they back a bit back into their holes. Maybe I should be looking to buy a cheap red filter to go on the lens?

I don't have the opportunity to go lobstering so often (live in nor cal) to test out all these neat theories and would appreciate any comments. Thanks!

the solution is simple, use a smaller light with a penlight attached to your mask strap, never beam it right on them, but shine off to the side so you get residual light. We aren't trying to illuminate the reef. A bright light is going to push back other bugs you haven't even seen yet, keep the light to a minimum when hunting bugs.
