I want to buy a good full gear, as I am doing my Tech I course, and planning to go through the full path.
After asking and 2 months of research, I got to my decision: I want to buy Halcyon's SS BP, and 27 pioneer wings for singles, and one or two 55 explorers (as some organizations require the use of double bladders for advanced tek courses).
The problem is that here in Israel, there is no formal representation for Halcyon. This means there is no service, in the case something goes wing with the wings.

I bought Scubapro's regulators, and they built for me the "ultimate" gear: Transpak's aluminum BP and Subapro's wings, which I don't really know whether they are so good as Halcyon's.

- Does anybody think this combination is good?
- What about Scubapro's wings?
- I was told also that AL is better than SS, as it does not get corrosive. On the other side, AL BP can be bent...

First, don't worry about bending the AL backplate. If you do, you're superman!

As for the Halcyon equipment, there isn't much to go wrong with it. The backplate is solid. The webbing might have to be replaced someday, but I'm sure you can find that stuff somewhere in Israel.

The wings are pretty tough. If something were to puncture them, it's very easily fixed. There are Halcyon dealers in Europe, Oman, and Singapore (see www.halcyon.net)

I don't know anything about the Scubapro stuff, but it sounds like your LDS doesn't know anything about Halcyon either!
