For anyone who might be interested, the next Catalina Conservancy Divers' Research Diver training program begins at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium on April 9. Details are available here:

http://www.ccd.org/training/diver/diver.html

The first session (species ID lecture given by Dr. Roy Houston) is open to the public and there is no fee, other than the recommended donation to the aquarium and maybe parking. If you have been looking for a fish ID class focused on local waters, this is a wonderful opportunity.

Do you know where I might find other "research diving", scientific or conservational programs/clubs (outside of the PADI Fish ID, etc.)? I'm a biologist by education but a techie by career. Sure would be nice to use some of the skills I learned in college all while diving. :) Thanks!

Check in with kelphelper on this board re: Coastkeeper activities in OC.
