My wife and I are looking for a remote, out of the way, non touristy island that is like the old Caribbean.

We’ve both been in Costa Rica. I’ve been on Guanja. My wife has been in the Bahamas. We want to go somewhere new and liked the sound of this Columbian island.

We live in Key West so want to get away from cruise ships, tourists, jet ski’s, night life, crowds, etc.

We want to sit on a deserted beach, drink some rum on a veranda, ride a horse, kayak, take a hike, read a book in a hammock, do some diving on a pristine reef.

Any info you can provide on dive operators, places to stay, tips, etc. will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like this would be a fine choice. Went there in 1998 & stayed at Captain Morgan's Hotel (also has a restaurant). Dived with Sonny's dive centre (i.e. shack) next door. Ask to do El Spiral - one of my top 3 dives ever. A good spot for fried fish dinner is the beach along from the hotel - Southwater/Saltwater beach - something like that. You can drive round the island in about 15 mins. Not much else to do - vist the Green Moon bar, hike up the mountain. I have also been to Guanaja & they're quite similar.
