Whats up socal. I know most people go to mex for camping and a little latin loving :eyebrow: , but I was wondering if anyone has gone diving in Salsipuedes / la fonda/ ensenada area.

I go camping at Salsi like 2-3 times a year, and haven't gone since certification this past July. Salsi is about 87K down from San Diego. Anyone got experience there or nearby.

If its good I want to plan a trip.

We have been down to la Bufadora 2 times in the past 3 months. They have some great spots to dive from shore and boats. Dale is a cool guy and has a Panga he takes out for 30 a head, 4 minimum... Here is his link:

Here are some topside photos and some undewater photos we took on our trips:

Lots of pics... It's a very pretty area, just not much to do outside of diving and drinking :) (fine with me though)

There is some Really nice diving out of Bufadora. Dales Dive shop is the only boat in town. On a flat day, the cove and kelp are nice dives. Lonely Planet has a book on shore diving in Baja. I have it but can't find it right now. I would recommend going out with Dale, ~$30 for two dives, to the the offshore pinnacles like White Rock and Eagle Rock. Fantastic shore dives at Kennedy landing as well.

right on, I read the bufadora report you posted, and it sounds like a great trip and great pictures. I am trying to not have that long of a drive. I know bufadora is like 3 hours farther south. But Im looking more specifically in the area between rosarito and ensenada

La Bufadora is probably 30-45 mins past Ensanada. It took us about 2 hours from San Diego all the way down the La Buf. We are going again early summer for an entire weekend camping... The water is pretty cold though. 50 degrees both dives. It's definitely drysuit country!

thats not too bad then, but the water should warm up to 60's in the mid summer.
That might be an idea

Bufadora is like 30 minutes south of Ensenada. Its less than three hours from the border. Ya gotta go!!

john, la bufadora is not too far past ensenada! and the diving there is great. But to answer your question, during the 2 times I drove down to la bufadora, I saw lots of very diveable kelp beds right off shore between rosarito and ensenada, including around la fonda. I haven't dove them yet, but you can't miss them from the highway. They start right past where Fox studios is, just south of rosarito, and continue down almost all the way to ensenada.

I had no problem in my wetsuit down there, sean just needs a new wet suit! :) just kidding sean.

Thats what I figured scott, if you look at the pictures from the links above, you'll see nice cove areas. I'm thinking good diving!
how does it work with taking lobster down there...or fish...do you need license or permits?
